This is a brief break-down of the steps the Call Committee was given by Pastor Steve Lien during our training in March 2017. The committee has just finished interviewing staff and is preparing for Step Four.
Step One: Assess the congregation/Identify specifics of pastoral role/Create ministry description
Step Two: Assemble the call committee
Step Three: Address conflict/Manage transition
Step Four: Characterize/Describe the congregation—assemble packet to send to prospective candidates
Step Five: Solicit Candidates
Step Six: Define and determine compensation
Step Seven: Decide process/Generate interview questions/Conduct initial screening
Step Eight: Communicate, communicate, communicate!
Step Nine: Conduct second interviews
Step Ten: Repeat the process as necessary
Step Eleven: Contact references
Step Twelve: Exercise due diligence—take nothing for granted and leave no stone unturned
Step Thirteen: Negotiate/Finalize Compensation
Step Fourteen: Recommend/Present Candidate
Step Fifteen: Extend call
Step Sixteen: Wait for response
Step Seventeen: Celebrate!
Step Eighteen: Notify—insure that all interested parties are informed
from various vision council members, call committee members, staff and guests during Charity's time of transition.
