Who is ALPHA for?
Everyone is welcome. People come from different backgrounds with divergent viewpoints come to ALPHA with the same objective: to establish whether Jesus Christ has any real relevance for their lives. Some want to investigate whether God exists and if there is any point to life; others are concerned about what happens after death. Lots of people have attended church on and off all their lives, but feel they have never really understood the basics of the Christian faith.
What's Involved?
ALPHA begins with a dinner followed by a video and a music-filled small-group session. Each following week, Charity provides an evening meal followed by a talk on a subject central to Christianity, and the small group discussion. You will discover new friends and deepen relationships with acquaintances at ALPHA.
Childcare is provided and the evening is over by 8:15 PM.

ORIGIN: Alpha originated at Holy Trinity Brompton - an Anglican Church in London, England, more than twenty years ago. The syllabus of the course is contained in the book, "Questions of Life," by Rev. Nicky Gumbel. Thousands of Alpha courses are now running in many countries and it has been translated into many different languages. People come from many different backgrounds, holding many different viewpoints - but all come with the same objective: to establish whether Jesus Christ has any real relevance for their lives. Some want to investigate whether God exists and if there is any point to life; others are concerned about what happens after death. Still others may have attended church on and off all their lives but feel they have never really understood the basics of the Christian faith. Churches of every different type and background, including Anglican, Baptist, Presbyterian, Anglican, Roman Catholic, Methodist, Pentecostal, Salvation Army, Free Church and House Churches are running Alpha. Because Alpha covers the basics of Christianity all churches provide the same material, making alterations only to suit the local culture.
Church leaders from all denominations report the astonishing impact the course has on non-church goers and existing Christians in their areas. Everyone is welcome on an Alpha course, and people attend for a wide variety of reasons.
"It's great to see how Alpha has been used to reach people with the good news of Jesus Christ, who wouldn't normally come to church. This resource is very complementary to helping seekers connect with The Purpose Driven Life." ~ Dr. Rick Warren, Senior Pastor, Saddleback Church
"I know of many people whose lives have been transformed through the Alpha Course. I rejoice at how God is using it so powerfully to renew many churches both inside and outside prison walls." ~ Charles W. Colson. Founder of Prison Fellowship Ministries
